It's no easy thing to name a child. We've heard stories of angry hospital staffs badgering new parents who, despite their best efforts and plenty of advice, can't seem to answer that question: "What are you going to call him?" Robert and I have played with names in the past. "What sounds right with this last name? What will the other kids poke fun at in school? Could someone turn it into an annoying nickname?" But each child is unique and we decided that when we saw our baby we would figure out what felt right for him or her. So we looked at our little one and, after much ado, are ready to officially introduce him to the world. To maintain our family's privacy, we are not including our last name in this post.
Ladies and Gents, please meet Leo!
Leo James (his middle name) to be exact. Leo literally translates to lion and signifies courage, grandeur, and royalty. His middle name, James, is in honor of my maternal grandfather, James, who at the age of 92, represents strength, loyalty, humor, and elegance in my eyes. The name we have chosen for him also has echoes of his given name in it, and we hope that this eases his transition, given all of the changes he will be adjusting to. Rob has already taken to calling him "L.J." on occasion, which he says, with a wide grin, is a great football name. Oh boy, here we go :)
I miss Leo already!
