Christmas Day with Leo

Our first Christmas with Leo was truly lovely. We spent it at home, just the three of us, and spent most of the day opening gifts, playing, cooking, eating, and wishing relatives Merry Christmas on the phone. Leo woke up Christmas morning alert and ready for Christmas, as we've been explaining all about the tradition of presents left by Santa under the tree. Just to be able to have Leo here with us, and not 6,000 miles away was wonderful. We loved watching his eyes light up as he contemplated the mystery of his presents, enjoyed his chocolate cake, and explored boxes and gift wrap. He stayed up a bit late and with a full belly and an exhausted body fell to sleep without much ado. Rob and I had spent Xmas Eve exchanging our gifts and wrapping Leo's, a tradition we plan to continue!

It's amazing to think Leo is almost 2 years old and has been with us nearly a year. We've now shared with him all of those holidays we missed last year - in a way we've experienced so much in a year (and my how Leo has changed!) but in another way it's gone at lightening speed. I'm trying my best to savor every moment as much as possible. I'm excited about 2011 and what's in store - terrible twos or not! :) Happy New Year!

I'm ready for my presents, Santa!

Daddy, you're not Santa!

Leo investigates his gifts.

Santa brought me socks?

A laptop, now that's more like it!

Leo shows Daddy the card he made for him (with a little help from Mommy)

Leo opens one of his favorite gifts...

A red wagon! He quickly fills it up with his favorite toys...

And off to the races he goes!

Leo is ready for some Shepherd's Pie!

Christmas Dinner

What an eater!
