Last week, we were lucky to have my mom, AKA "Granny Martha," travel from Pennsylvania for a visit. Leo and Granny had a wonderful time, despite Granny feeling a bit under the weather.

Our first stop was Filoli, a beautiful estate about 30 minutes away. The name Filoli stands for "Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life." It is renowned for its gardens and most famous for being the setting for the TV series, Dynasty.
Above, Leo and Granny pose in front of the main house.

Inside the ballroom, there was a pianist playing beautiful classical music that could be heard and enjoyed throughout the house.

In one of the rooms, we came upon the wine vault, complete with deer head decor. This is the sort of thing that makes me want to be a man wearing a pin-striped suit, smoking a cigar, and playing with my mustache at the same time. In other words, pretty cool.

Leo stands on the stairs where "Crystal" and "Alexis" from Dynasty would tussle in their infamous cat fights.

Ah, fresh air. Mommy and Leo step into The Sunken Garden.
There are many, many individual gardens with their own identity at Filoli. It was breathtaking to take in as a whole, as we walked through it.

This photo is of the Knot Garden.
The plants appear to literally be woven or knotted together.

Leo runs toward the pool on the only section of grass we were allowed to walk on.
He took full advantage.

Granny stops for a break and a smile :)

The largest magnolia tree I've ever seen.
