Life with Leo: A Trio of Anniversaries

Last week was a busy time of shopping, working, and getting over being sick. It was also an extremely sentimental week for us. We celebrated three special anniversaries:

One year since Leo became a citizen and we became a legal family.
Two years since we flew to Korea the first time and met Leo.
Ten years since Robert proposed to me.

The passage of time is surreal; I can't believe it's 10 years since we got engaged and that we met Leo TWO YEARS ago. Wow. Replay please! I remember Leo playfully removing my glasses and letting Robert nuzzle foreheads with him that cold November day in Seoul. Amazing.

And citizenship day is still fresh in my mind. I remember waking up to a rainy fall day, dressing my little Leo (then just shy of 2 years old) in his American flag sweater and blue pants. He loved wearing the headband with the flag stars and waving around his little flag. We made our way to the court house, sat in the seats in our courtroom along with a few other adoptive families that we were finalizing their adoptions that day. Leo was in good spirits and a friendly bailiff let him sit on the witness stand and play with the microphone. Once in the Judge's chambers, Leo was nervous at first, then calm, and we showed off 3 big grins as the judge made legal what we already knew, that we were a family.

As we celebrated last week, we made some great new Thanksgiving memories, making cookies, sharing a meal with friends, and remembering all we have to be thankful for. Good to stop and be mindful of that sometimes :) Happy belated Thanksgiving!
