Mother's Day Weekend

One of Leos' Mother's Day Gifts
Mother's Day weekend came and went with a flash it seems.  We had hoped to go up to the city for a special gluten-free Mother's Day brunch in North Beach but, alas, sickness put a wrench in those plans.  Leo and I just weren't up to it.  Luckily, the day before we spent a lovely morning at the park with friends.  Mother's Day, itself, we took a leisurely neighborhood walk in the sunshine.  Leo kept asking, "Where are we going?" from his seat in the stroller, confused about the idea of a walk without a destination, I guess.

Rob made me a fantastic sausage and tomato frittata for breakfast, and a lovely spaghetti with garlic and kale for dinner.  I highly recommend marrying a man who can cook!  Both of my guys spoiled me with gifts, including some special  homemade presents from Leo.  I wish I hadn't been sick (or Leo for that matter) or that Rob didn't have to get on a plane that night for work.  Still, though, all day I truly just felt grateful to be Leo's mommy and to be sharing that experience with Robert.

Just a few years ago, Mother's Day was a difficult holiday for me, one where I was able to celebrate and remember my own mom (and Grandmother) but was inwardly depressed over not being a mom myself.  So now that I'm a mom, and have the amazing fortune to have Leo as my child, I just don't take it for granted.  That doesn't mean I don't lose my cool and haven't yelled at Leo twice while writing this blog post ;P  But I know that the joy of being Leo's mommy is incomparable.  Hope you all had a happy Mother's Day, too!

Swinging with Mommy

Look what Leo can do all by himself at the park!

I may be sick, but I'm awfully cute.

Leo enjoyed his favorite episode, "Carmine," of his new favorite show, Little Einsteins, while he rested on the couch.

Rob made me this delicious sausage, tomato, and potato frittata for Mother's Day brunch.

 Mother's Day brunch is served!

I've seen this poem with other children's hand prints in lots of my organizing client's houses, since it's a common preschool activity.  Yet, somehow seeing Leo's hand prints there make it  as special as ever.
