Today, January 13, 2009, is officially Korean American Day in many states across this country. It celebrates the day the first Korean immigrants arrived in the United States over a hundred years ago (Jan 13, 1903). The group included 102 men, women, and children.

Today, there are approximately 2 million Korean Americans (soon Leo will make it 2 million and one!!!). When California passed Resolution No. 38, in 2003 proclaiming every January 13th Korean American Day, many groups were there to witness the special occasion, including the Korean American Adoptee Network.

It always astounds me how wonderfully rich American history is, and how many different people have contributed to its journey over the past 230-some odd years. So today we're celebrating Korean Americans. Have a little kimchi and join us!
