Drum roll please......Leo's paperwork has FINALLY been submitted to the Korean government. He has been issued his emigration permit (this is what we've been waiting for since late August), will receive his passport this week, and next week he should be issued his visa by the US Embassy in Seoul. Then we go and get our wonderful little Leo! So it looks like we should be heading to Korea around the last week of January!
We've been waiting so long this is very surreal and there is a big part of us that's like, "Are you sure? Is it really okay to get excited? Is this really happening?" But it truly is :) Things are finally in motion, thanks in large part to a letter from our local congressman on our behalf and the assistance of the Korean Consulate. We are a ball of jitters - in a good way - and can't wait for our lives to be permanently changed when our son is with us 24/7.
We know that as excited and in love with Leo as we are, that this will be a difficult and confusing transition for Leo, who has lost his birth mother and will now lose his foster family, who he fortunately has a loving and affectionate bond with. He will be seeing different faces, hearing a new, strange language, and eating foreign foods. He will have to adapt to sleeping in a crib, to a new house, and to a new lifestyle altogether. We are prepared to do everything we can to comfort him, be patient with him, and let him know that we are here for him no matter what. It's the most important and wonderful job we've ever had and we can't wait to get started.
We know how anxious many of you are as well and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing in this journey with us, for all of your expressions of support and love, and for being almost as excited about Leo's arrival as we are! We can't wait for him to meet all of his fans :)
